FUN FAIR
I like the ephemeral nature of funfairs.
Somehow it is about enjoying "small things" such as the pleasure of cotton candy, a song that will make us dance, a ride on the big wheel to raise us above the city.
Funfairs mix opposite worlds: the real and the supernatural, the normal and the abnormal, the local and the itinerant confront each other...
Some go there to dream, others to shiver.
Symbol of a social utopia where the price is the same for everyone, grouping the scattered population of a city in the same place...for a time at least.
This is the fun fair of Cape Town, South Africa.
